The Chicken who became a Man
Dedicated to Marsha K. DeWolfe

A Love Poem for my One True Love
I was a chicken
I knew many women
never had courage to talk to them
But You played a Sorial
(a lizard woman) and we had a ball
You were the Keeper of the Dragon Nursery
I was a human gaurd to the children and worked in a Hiumite
Desert Order. Lovely.
I saved your life by carrying you away.
We ran away, from reality in a game.
Nothing was the Same.
In the game or reality, that is just part of what I have to say.
To another land, Olendiak, in a story told by Jason.
In reality you were never gone,
From my thoughts, at any moment.
In the game I rescued you and it was love at first sight.
As we were running away from zombies.
As we flee,
Through a door to another demension I carried you to safety.
Jason and Robert brought us together to fall in love.
You set me free like a dove.
You made me a man.
Everlasting our love
can be, can't you see!

He was alone. The darkness surrounding him inched closer. Where had she gone? His best friend throughout his short seventeen years of life. She was there when he was asleep. But now she was gone. The encroaching darkness made its goal to swallow him whole and he was shaking. His heart beat quickened and his palms sweaty. He couldn't feel any presence around and it made him ache to know he'd been abandoned.
His head pounded with increasing pain. Where were his meds? He had no more. He ran out in this medium of sorts between godhood and mortality. He inched up close to the wall, the rough texture of the limestone scratching his skin as he star

Hollow.
There is no other word fitting enough to describe her eyes. If one could even call them eyes, for to me they were shadows, sunken black holes in a sunken white face. Paper thin, her pale skin stretched painfully over razor sharp cheekbones, so thin it was almost translucent.
Her lips were two dead roses. Once, there had been colour there. Youth, life. Now, the blossoms had withered, leaving only two white husks to remain. Barely there, she was a ghost, a spectre of her former self, all the years of bitterness and hatred and pain bleaching away her beauty.
A sheet of sorrow, akin to a shroud, was the black veil that frosted over her

There's a burst of energy through the stillness. The rocks hang as a world broken and fallen to ruin, but one thing keeps in motion. Defiant to the end.
It's a half-finished arc, then a stab, a half-finished arc, then a stab. The scythe whips through the air like an instrument of malice, only to keep a life alive.
He's but a boy, a child in a man's shadowy form. His eyes aren't of death, or divorce, or disease, but of pure emptiness. He's grasping at life, but can't hold on by himself.
The scythe clamors against the walls as it gnarls its footholes, breaking the new earth like sledgehammer to sandstone. How can it stay up? O

Well my friend Jason has a world called Olendiak and it has a rich history. He has a king/sultan named Ashrik, who has many children. My character was guarding his children or grandchildren and some of them could shape shift into dragons.
